Job Title: Esthetician/Salon Manager FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function:

Assists customers with services to enhance their appearance to their liking. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of cosmetic application and skin care. They should also possess a broad knowledge of beauty trends and fashion. The idea is to achieve maximum customer satisfaction to drive long term success for our business.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: Store Director, Assistant Store Director; Managers of Store Operations and GM, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, and GM & Assistant Managers

Direct Reports: Salon employees

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Converses with clients/customers to better understand their requirements and makes suggestions for improving their appearance.

+ Performs professional quality facials, within scope of practice and licensing (as applicable).

+ Assists in the cleanliness of the location (treatment rooms and common areas).

+ Utilizes Salon approved protocols, in accordance with applicable laws.

+ Maintains professional appearance at all times.

+ Maintain client confidentiality at all times.

+ Applies make-up, creating a variety of looks according to the request of the client.

+ Applies and sells cosmetics and other beauty products.

+ Answers the phone and schedules appointments.

+ Maintains equipment and orders materials when needed.

+ Complies with health and safety standards.

+ Travels offsite to perform designated salon services at special events, following the special events standards in accordance with the cosmetology board.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Orders product and supplies as necessary.

+ Prices products for customers as necessary.

+ Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

+ Assists in other areas of store as needed.

Education and Experience:

+ High school Graduate or equivalent.

+ Minimum of 500 hours of skincare education as well as required classroom work.

+ Participates in continuing education to improve effectiveness (preferred).

+ Satisfactory results of background and reference check is a condition of employment in this position.

+ Must adhere to all applicable local and state licensing laws and regulations related to the esthetic services provided, including following any applicable law pertaining to maintaining current Esthetics License.

+ Knowledge of and experience in performing facials is required, along with ability to follow Salon's Skin Facial protocols.

+ Understands and believes in the benefits of skincare.

+ Up-to-date with fashion and beauty trends.

+ Great physical stamina.

+ Excellent communication and people skills.

Physical Requirements:

+ Must be able to physically exert up to 50-pounds of force occasionally, 20-pounds of force frequently and 10-pounds of force constantly to move objects.

+ Visual requirements include clarity of vision at a distance of more than 20-inches and less than 20-feet with our without correction, color vision, depth perception and field of vision.

+ Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

+ The duties for this position are normally conducted in a retail store type environment.

+ There is some pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.

+ There could be exposure to noise, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals/solvents, and possible electrical shock and temperature extremes.

+ Works in a fragrance filled environment.

+ Handles and applies cosmetic products to clients.

+ Able to work flexible days/nights/hours including weekends and holidays.


Has daily contact with the general public and customers. Has contact with federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies regarding inspections in salon environment.
