Description




Involves work with communications, computers, navigational systems, visual aids and other electronic equipment both on and off airports within the National Air Space System.


The position may be under filled to a Electronics Specialist position ($19.412-$28.115/hr) if selected candidate does not possess FAA, VOR, DME and NDB certification.




Examples of Work




Installs, maintains, modifies and repairs complex electronic equipment required for aviation navigation and weather reporting systems. These duties include construction, installation, preventive maintenance inspection, analysis of meter readings, troubleshooting, repair or replacement of malfunctioning parts or equipment. Overnight travel for 2+ weeks per month.




Qualifications / Requirements




REQUIREMENTS: A general qualification is a high school education or equivalent plus five years experience in electronics with two years of experience with navigational aid equipment. Graduation from a recognized vocational technical school in electronics may be substituted for two years experience in electronics. A FCC General Radio Telephone operators license and FAA VOR, DME and NDB certification is required.


OTHER: Valid drivers license or able to provide independent authorized transportation. Overnight travel for 2+ weeks per month. Regular and reliable attendance required.




Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




Knowledge and ability to operate a variety of test equipment. The ability to use electronic formulas involved in testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing and developing. Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment failures in a timely manner. Possess knowledge and ability to use, repair and maintain hand power tools. Read and understand schematics, construction plans and drawings. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software applications. A solid concept of math and algebra. Strong communication skills..
